I was happily watching Stephen Chow's classic on tele, when suddenly "pop", everything went dark. No way man, this is so NOT happening.. I was talking to myself as I go outside to check out the rest of neighbourhood. Guess what? The houses on the opposite rows still power-on. Machaohai!

Well, this is Malaysia and sometimes shit does happens, so I guess it'll be quick and short power outage. FUCKING WRONG! Niamah, power went out before midnight, and by 1am still no sign of recovering. So I called TNB hotline, and without surprise, line was freakin busy. Kept trying for 15min and finally I was greeted with the usual IVR stuff. By now I was sweating like pig already, chaohai why so damn hot nowdays?

As usual, "technician is on the way", "we are looking at 1-2 hours recovery time" bla bla bla same shit. I can do nothing apart from cursing and swearing. And this went on and on.. 2am.. 3am.. 4am.. Chibai how come still no power wan? PUKIMAK.. no aircond and mossies were constant menace..

Finally I passed out on the living floor.. and the next time I feel my aircond running, it was already 7am, not to mention my body was damn itchy and sticky from all the sweating and the mossy bites. Man.. if you were in KL last night, can you imagine going to bed without aircond?

Singapore trip + Happy Chinese New Year!!

Damn busy lately. Just came back from Singapore yesterday. Company-paid business trip is BEST always.

First up, Happy Hours at Post Bar in The Fullerton. They have the best Mojito EVAR :)

Dinner at Palm Beach, just next to Merlion. Food was okay but hey, the view was amazing. Too bad I didn't bring my digicam (all photos below are googled).

Next up, Cafe del Mar! Yes, it's here in Asia finally! I'm sure this place will be the next Zouk. It is simply A-maze-ziiiinggg!! Freakin cool deco, superb music (as usual) and the beach (artificial, I know, but who cares?), and most importantly.. bikinis!! w00t! Go check it out guys!

I'm thinking of upgrading my cellphone, eventhough my Nokia 6230 still serves me well, except the speaker doesn't work sometimes. Money is not an issue.. because I can claim from company! w00t!

Basically it's down to Sony Ericsson's K800i or Nokia's N73.

Nokia N73.

Both having 3.2 megapixel camera. Sweet.

N73 is slightly more expensive than K800i, but it's slimmer and I'm used to Nokia's interface as well as functions. My heart goes for N73, unless you have any other view or suggestions?

Yeah, Portugal vs France tonight. Nothing against Portugal but I think France has the experience and the pedigree to lift the cup again. In fact, some of the French players are the only few that had lifted the cup before in this tournament (apart from the Brazilians). So, I do fancy them over the Portugese in this match.

Speaking of Les Bleus, I used to hate them so much when they beat Brazil in 1998 final. In fact, there was a time that I got so excited and happy, whenever I see the alien spaceships detroyed Paris in Independence Day -_-"

I was so glad that France got dumped in 1st round at WC 2002 as well, without scoring a goal somemore! But at the same time, I also feel kesian for them, especially Zidane, Henry and Thuram (my favourite right-back).

Somehow, after that WC, I began NOT to hate them, and slowly developed my respect to Les Bleus. I don't know why exactly, maybe because most of the players from WC 98 squad had retired, or maybe because I watched a documentary called More Than a Game, which recently being showed in ntv7 for the past 2 weeks.

In one of the episodes, they were focusing on France and suddenly I was glued to the TV. I was impressed by Platini, Giresse and Jacquet in the WC 82 and mesmerised by Zidane, Thuram and Blanc in WC 98. Aimé Jacquet, especially, is a top-class manager. He was very successful at Bordeaux and he brought his expertise into the French team when he took over from Gérard Houllier, which I think a total failure as club and national team manager.

After WC 94, Jacquet began building his team, and all the hard work paid off 4 years later. I used to think that France won the WC 98 because of host advantage, but I was wrong. The success in Euro 2000 showed that Jacquet had developed a team that plays with so much passion and spirit, on top of their gifted individuals. The Les Bleus has earn my respect by now.

On another note, I was shock to see what happened during the semi-final match between France and Germany, well, West Germany to be exact.

If the Azzurri meets Les Bleaus in the final, will they able to revenge for their defeat in WC 98 and Euro 2000? Is this the time for Italy to win a major championship again since the Paolo Rossi phenomenon in WC 82? For players like Totti, Cannavaro and Del Piero, this could be their last appearance in WC and this could be the only chance for them to lift the cup of life.

PS: In 1983, a French newspaper held a poll to name the most hated man in France. Harald Schumacher (the goalkeeper) won, beating Adolf Hitler into second place. To this day, some of the French players on the field that night still refuse to set foot again in Seville's Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.

PPS: Do you notice that all Italy goals have come from 10 different players? That's almost half of the entire team, and that is remarkable.

So, while we wait for the final clashes in group G and F tonight (which I don't see any real contender for WC 2006, except Spain), we can be sured that there will be some mouth-waterring battles in the next 2 weeks.

1. A possible quarter-final clash between Germany and Argentina. Surely, this has to be the most important one! Bring back the memories of Mexico '86 and Italia '90, when Maradona and Lothar Matthäus were possibly the shortest captains in both tournaments :P (not to forget the tears from Gazza, but that's another story for England la.)

2. Italy should able to overcome any of these teams (France/Swiss/Korea/Ukraine/Tunisia) without much problem, even without any ponytails, oh wait, who's that girl running around on the pitch? Oh Camaronesi.. OK, so they do have some ponytails, then for sure they'll advance to semi-final la!

3. England should beat Equador (unconvincingly I predict) and setup a clash with Holland (which may prove a bit too strong for the Portugese). Terry vs Robben, A.Cole vs Van Persie? Nice.

4. If Brasil can play like how they played in 2nd half against Japan, then surely they'd go pass an Essien-less Ghana team and wait for (it has to be!) Spain in the last quarter-final. This will be so exciting ain't it? Two teams with so much qualities and gifted individuals. There will be goals, for sure, and possibly some samba and salsa too.

By that time, every ah pek, aunty, makcik, tangachi & minachi will be sick of Paul and Shebby's face already.

I don't know why I bought this initially, probably because it's not as "mainstream" as Cats, Miss Saigon and etc, or maybe it's a Pulitzer and Tony Award winning musical?

Rent, a must watch for musical lovers.

But the moment I saw the first 10 minutes, I knew I've made an excellent purchase. I'm not the fan of musical movies but somehow I like this because it makes you feel the ups and downs of these characters. And how they convey all this not only through dialogue, but through song as well.

My favourite character is Angel (Wilson Jermaine Heredia). Overall I'll give it a 7.5/10, well, not because it's not good enough, simply because I'm more into drama and comedy movies, hehe. Screw Chicago, this is much better!

Nevertheless, go get the DVD coz these guys can really sing well! I wonder why they didn't participate in American Idol? Sure win!

We were lucky enough to get the aisle seating at the last second row, allowing us to walk around if we feel bored. On top of that, we still able to see the view outside because the last window is not attached to any seating. So here are some views of The Alps that we managed to take, shortly after we took-off.

So I'm almost done here in Switzerland. Today will be my last day in Luzern office, and I'll be flying back with Mae tomorrow noon. It's 1:30pm here at the moment (7:30pm in MY), and I've attended a few meetings/discussions. It will get even busier for me, as we still need to shop for some chocolates as souvenirs, and the most annoying thing: start packing! Hope my luggage fits.. finger crossed :P

Snowing in April Spring

Finally I'm able to update my blog. For the past 10 days I didn't have any chance to read or update blogs. Probably it's a good thing coz I was able to spend more time with Mae here in Switzerland.

Was in Bern last Wednesday for some meetings/presentations. The weather was really unbelievable. In the morning, it was OK, then it started to rain around 8:30am, then it snowed at 10am, then it rained again during lunch time.

The rain stopped at 1pm, and then the snow came at 2pm, and from then on none stop snowing until the entire landscape became all white. Truly amazing considering the Swiss was still enjoying 20+ degrees only the week before.

They say nowdays you'd experience all 4 seasons in April. I totally agree now. Awesome.

How many schools did I go to?
Primary education at SRJK (C) Chung Hwa along Jalan Ampang, then 1 year at SM Seri Ampang before I moved to Setapak High School until form 6.

Next, 2 years in APIIT and final year at University of Portsmouth.

So, 5 in total including tertiary education.

Was I the studious nerd, or the last minute hero?
Up to form 3, I was a studious nerd, then after SRP I just loose it and became a last minute hero.

Was I the class ‘taiko’ or the teacher’s pet?
During my primary, I was the teacher's pet and even became head of prefect. But when I got into secondary, I can't be bothered anymore and I sort of mixed with my bunch all the time. Not a 'taiko' but no one dares to bully me either.

What was the biggest rule I broke in school?
Smoking in school toilet. We even kept our cigarette boxes on the ceiling of the toilet. Wonder if they are still there now?

Three subjects I enjoyed.
History. I don't know why, but I just love it, especially on World history like WW1 and WW2. Hate Malaysian history though.

Moral Education. Because it was the time where we can disappear from class! Moral my ass.

This happened when we were still in Australia back in August last year. She was looking for bungee jump but since the price for tandem skydiving is not much higher than bungee, we thought what the heck, might as well go for skydiving right?

We decided to go with Skydive Ramblers due to recommendation from my ex-colleague in Brisbane. They turned out to be very friendly and most importantly, very experienced indeed.

Watched In Her Shoes few days ago. The movie was quite touching, although I didn't expect it to last more than 2 hours.

Emphasizes family values. I'll give it 8/10

I think the most outstanding cast was Shirley MacLaine. She overshined Cameron and Toni even though she only appeared halfway through the story. She also overshadowed Nicole and Jen Aniston in Bewitched and Rumor Has It.

Syriana - Are You Lost?

This is one of the best geopolitical thrillers in recent years. However, the movie is quite complicated, at least not the type that entertains most of our audience. I myself have problem understanding the plot sometimes, thanks to the badly done subtitle.

Syriana - Overall I'll give it 7.5/10

Puzzle 1: George Clooney got his award based on supporting role. Who's playing the lead role then? Or there was no lead role in this movie at all?

Lord of War or Warlord?

After some non-stop gambling and open-house visiting, me and Mae decided to go Lot 10/Sg Wang for some shopping. She got herself a very nice pair of blue fish-skin court shoe, while I satisfied myself with some great DVDs.

First up, Lord of War (My rating: 8.5/10)

This is definitely gonna be one of my favourite movie of 2006 (even though it was released in US last year). Great story, great plot, excellent cast, good screenplay and most of all, the fact that it was shoot on-site in Ukraine, West Africa and Middle-East, makes it even more realistic.

Not a big fan of Nicholas Cage, but definitely this is one of his best performance! Somehow he's still able to look so innocent, even when he's the most successful arms dealer. Jared Leto and Ethan Hawke were fine. But most surprisingly I notice a familiar face when Ava Fontaine (Yuri's wife) appeared.

The moment I saw her I feel deja vu. Then I realised she was Natasha from Sex and the City! Her name is Bridget Moynahan, and her filmography is quite impressive as well: The Recruit, I-Robot, Sum of All Fears and the most famous of all..

Coyote Ugly.

Even Tyra Banks, Piper Perabo and Maria Bello didn't made it as big as Bridget, on the silver screen.

Still, who would forget that bar?

Well, I still not able to upload any photos from my client site. And I usually don't blog during weekends. So bear with me while I find alternate solution k?

I'm local therefore I'll be sticking around KL during the CNY, which I'm fine with, at least I get to enjoy the less crowded shopping malls and most importantly, no traffic jams! w00t.

I'd like to know if anyone tried Grey Goose Vodka before? It just launched in Malaysia end of last year, and there's not much feedback yet, not even from the Vodka Queen, Fireangel ;)

Anyhow, I've checked their website and it looks quite impressive, the web design I mean. Not sure bout the vodka though, will definitely try it out whenever I have the chance.

Wouldn't it be absolutely freakin nice, if we could yum seng with the World's Best Tasting Vodka during this Chinese New Year?

By the way, if you are fan of beer, pls try Erdinger if you travel to Singapore. That's the nearest I could go for Erdinger. Don't think they have it in Malaysia. Damn it, this is what I don't like about Malaysia, we seems to enjoy far less of fine things around compare to people across the straits. Believe me, Erdinger is the best beer I have tasted! So smooth and not gassy, best! Will blog about Erdinger more next time.

King Kong in New York, again!

So King Kong is premiering next week. Big deal. Peter Jackson. Wooo.. Nah, I'm not too excited either. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the movie is fantastically made, but still, it's kinda lacking the sense of reality in it. I can somehow foresee that.

Even with Narnia and Aeon Flux.. just another very sci-fi futuristic megabucks production. How come nowdays no great movies on reality anymore? Like Shawshank Redemption? Or at least give us some nice police-CIA-bad-guys-bang-bang drama, like Bourne Identity?

Come on Hollywoord. It's Christmas already.
